HAIR EXTENSION QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Q: What products should I use on my hair extensions?

A: It's always recommended to use Sulphate FREE shampoo. Lavish Locks Hair Extensions shampoo & conditioner is sulphate free and can be purchased within.

Q: What products are safe to use with hair extensions?

A: You can use many products that you would normally use with your hair including dry shampoos, heat protectors and hairsprays. If you are unsure of ingredients or what is safe, enquire within.

Q: How long should I leave my hair extensions between refits?

A: It is recommended to leave your hair extensions 8 weeks between refits, depending on how much hair growth you have in this time. It is NOT recommended to go any longer than 12 weeks for a refit, as this can cause excess tension to the scalp and cause matting. If you have finer hair, it may be recommended to have refits slightly sooner than average recommended time.

Q: How long should a hair extension fitting take?

A: It can take anywhere from 1 hour (1/4 head) to 3-4 hours (for a full-head).

Q: Can I take my hair extensions out and have them refitted at a later date?

A: You can definitely have your hair extensions removed and keep them to have refitted for a later date, as long as hair extensions are suitable to do so.

Q: Can I buy my own hair and have them fitted only?

A: If you have a supplier you like to use, you can buy the hair extensions yourself and have them refitted at a refit cost only, depending on type of hair. Hair Extension technician would need to see hair prior to this to make sure hair extensions are appropriate for fitting.

Q: How long does my hair have to be to have hair extensions?

A: Your hair should be at least 4-6 inches to ensure that your hair can hold the weight of the hair extensions and have a natural blend in the hair. If unsure, enquire within for more details.

Q: Will hair extensions damage my natural hair/cause hair loss?

A: If Hair Extensions are applied properly and the correct aftercare has taken place, they will not damage your hair. There are many various methods of Hair Extensions, as long as you have the correct method for your type of hair (Thin or Thick) your hair extensions will have no negative effect on your hair whatsoever. Using the methods as shown in the 'Hair Extension' page are using individual strands of hair placed evenly amongst the head, meaning very little weight and tension to the scalp. Many clients use this method to grow their hair to their desired length! Client is required to keep up with maintenance appointment at advised time to ensure no damage to natural hair.

Q: What types of Hair Extension methods are used?

A: I use mainly the three most common stick tip/I-tip methods, which are Mini Locks (Copper tubes), Micro Rings and Nano Rings.

Q: What is the difference between all types of hair extensions used?

A: Mini Locks (Copper Tubes) - This is a small copper tube/ring which are attached with your own hair and a strand of hair extension and then clamped in with hair extension pliers. This tips of the hair extensions are held together with Italian Keratin in a stick tip form (roughly the size of a shoelace). OR Micro Rings- This is the same method apart from the ring is a Copper Tube lined with Silicone on the inside. These are slightly bigger (on average 50% larger than mini locks), OR Nano Rings- This is also the same method; however, the links are alot smaller than Micro Rings, but have silicone on the inside for better grip, The Hair extensions used for Nano rings are similar to those above, but have a small piece of metal at the top of the shoe lace tip where the bonds/ links are attached. They are mainly used for very fine hair.

NONE of the above methods use any Heat, Glue or Sewing, which means NO Damage to the Natural Hair when worn correctly and following correct aftercare.
